Dr. Janet Nambi Kibanja

Her biography

She is a Psychologist and a Marriage and Family therapist.  She has been  a Lecturer at Makerere University for over twenty years.  She has served as a student advisor and counselor, department Head and and she also severed as Director- Institute of Psychology. She also served as a member of Makerere University of Senate and Council.  Some of the committees she served on include the Joint Universities Admissions Board, the  Appointments Board and the Senate Gender Mainstreaming committee, which she chaired for sometime.  She has supervised student research at undergraduate and graduate levels and she is an internal and external examiner. She holds considerable knowledge in Mental Health and HIV/AIDS, Child and Adolescent development, Child Abuse and neglect, PTSD and Bereavement Counseling, Community Interventions, Psychological research, Counseling supervision and other areas.
Outside the University, she worked with the Uganda Police Force in designing a counseling training course and the JCRC in designing a Post-graduate programme in Clinical Counselling.   She is a TPO Board member, who is involved in organising the National World Mental Health Day Celebrations and she is the Chairperson of the Masaka-Rakai Psychosocial Technical Committee.
